OUR TOWN Chosen as HarperCollins American Classic

The Wilder Family is thrilled that HarperCollins will include Our Town, the only play selected, as part of its American Classics Collection on May 5, 2026.

HarperCollins American Classics is a curated collection of seminal works published throughout the company’s history. Launching in 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, this series celebrates HarperCollins’s enduring legacy at the forefront of American literature since its founding in 1817.

The HarperCollins American Classics collection will feature 35 beautiful deluxe trade paperback special editions spanning HarperCollins’s adult and children’s imprints. These selected works capture the ideals, struggles, and triumphs that define the nation’s 250-year history, offering readers a profound reflection on the country’s cultural and literary heritage. Together, these titles represent not just HarperCollins’s publishing legacy, as the nation’s longest-running trade publisher, but also the collective legacy of American literature.

“No American publisher has been so deeply woven into the fabric of American literature as HarperCollins,” said Brian Murray, President and CEO, HarperCollins Publishers. “We have forged strategic partnerships with visionary authors that have helped shape the literary canon for more than two centuries. This series not only commemorates the tireless work of our authors, employees, and partners over the years, but also celebrates a literary legacy 200 years in the making.”

From Mark Twain to Zora Neale Hurston, from Isabelle Allende to Ann Patchett, The Wilder Family is honored to be in this company of authors.
