In Spring of 2009, The Cleveland Play House presented the world premiere stage adaptation of Thornton Wilder's 1934 novel Heaven's My Destination as the final production of its 2008-2009 season.

The play was commissioned by Cleveland Playhouse, and adapted by Lee Blessing (Two Rooms, A Walk in the Woods) Artistic director Michael Bloom helmed the production.

Heaven's My Destination follows the tale of the Don Quixote-esque traveling textbook salesman George Marvin Brush, who is "a fervent religious convert determined to lead 'a good life.' A startlingly relevant tale of religion and tolerance with poignant and sometimes hilarious consequences, George's travels take him through smoking cars, bawdy houses, banks and campgrounds from Texas to Illinois--and into the soul of America."
